Loving Lately #

1. Avon Colour & Contour Powder in Rose Glow
The colour and contour powder is a lovely duo it has a bronzer and a highlighter that looks wonderful on its own or swirled tighter for a radiant glow. The duo is easy to use and works well with my skin tone. Sturdy and practical compact that is perfect for on the go.

2. Rimmel Union Jack Eye Palette Heart of Gold

My friend gave me this palette and I’ve been using it ever since. I swirl all the shades together to make a lovely shimmery brown shade. The powder is soft and packed with pigment which I wasn’t expecting for a drugstore eye shadow. It lasts all day and I can see myself wearing these eye shadows all through autumn. 

3. Rituals Volume Mascara

This mascara was a sample that came in last month’s edition of InStyle Magazine. I was really excited to try it out because I’m a huge fan of Rituals bath and body products and never tried their make-up products before. The brush is traditionally shaped and has long soft bristles that collect a good amount of product from the tube. I find the mascara nice to apply but that maybe because the wand is smaller as it’s a sample version. I get amazing results every time I use this mascara, which is why I keep going back to it. It gives me long thick lashes that stay looking good all day, and I will be investing in the full size tube once I run low. 

4. Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Nude

I absolutely love this eyeliner because it very pigmented, waterproof and lasts all day long. This nude shade is perfect for everyday because it’s not as bold as white eyeliner but none the less beautiful. There are many other shades available which I’m dying to get my hands on.

5. MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation NC15

This is my go to foundation when I’m having my morning rush to get ready because it’s so quick and easy to apply. It’s a shade darker than my Studio Fix Fluid Foundation but it’s not massively noticeable. It has a decent medium to full coverage, long lasting, breathable and looks flawless. 

6. Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner Flash

Flash is a lovely pearly pink that looks flawless on the waterline. It has a soft creamy gel formula that glides on with ease and is packed with pigment. Once set it lasts all day. Unfortunately these eyeliner are now discontinued but the original black and silver eyeliners are still available.   

7. La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo 

I purchased this because my skin was breaking out really badly and I heard really good things about it. The serum has a very mild fragrance, it sinks into the skin quickly and it makes a nice base for make-up. I honestly don't think it’s all it's made out to be because I still have pretty bad blemishes, but it does calm my spots and they look less angry and red, It also calms the redness on my skin and that's why I've been liking this product. Works well for my skin but not so much for my blemishes.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid in NW10 (LONG REVIEW)

I recently purchased Studio Fix Fluid in NW10 online from Mac Cosmetics. I chose NW10 because it’s the lightest shade of this particular foundation.  Mac says this foundation is supposed to have natural matte finish and a medium buildable coverage with a broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15. Comfortable and lasting time of up to eight hours, applies smoothly, builds coverage quickly and easily. Contains specially treated micronized pigments and soft focus powders for a super-smooth look that helps to minimize the appearance of imperfections. Absorbs and dispenses oil, oil free.  I purchased this foundation because people rave about it and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, but Mac’s statement made me even keener to try this myself. Be aware when you purchase this foundation it does not come with a pump, but you can buy the pump separately.  I do find this a little odd as most bottled foundations come standard with a pump, I would love to know why Mac decided on this. I decided not to buy a pump because I figured if it doesn’t come standard them it must not be essential. 

Okay so I was wrong the pump is essential….the foundation is quite thick therefore a pump is needed otherwise it’s a long frustrating time trying to get the product from the bottle, I have no idea what Mac where thinking. The foundation has a general foundation scent to it but once applied the scent fades away. Like I said the consistency is quite thick and creamy but it applies beautifully.  I’ve used different tools to apply this including, a stipple brush, foundation brush, face brush, sponges and my fingers and I get a flawless finish every time.  In terms of colour it’s very pale perfect for us porcelain skinned people and it doesn’t change colour throughout the day. It has an impressive medium buildable coverage that does not look cakey or overdone.  But this is where things start to go downhill for me unfortunately, and it may just be my skin type or the time of the year I don’t know. Once I’ve finished applying my face in the morning it looks fantastic but within a few hours the foundation starts to disappear and all my blemishes are starting to make an appearance……this is not what I was expecting because I didn’t have a bad word to say until this happened. 

The next day I decided to use Mac’s Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15 to conceal any imperfections because it’s my current favourite concealer because it does such an amazing job, and I set the foundation with Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation. It sounds like I had a face full of foundation but I only applied a small amount of the powder foundation. Again in looked amazing but would it make any difference in lasting time……I’m glad to say it made all the difference, it stayed put all day and remained looking fabulous.

My overall opinion is very mixed because I like everything about Studio Fix Fluid apart from the short lasting time and the pump issue. It looks great don’t get me wrong but it’s a chew having to purchase two foundations, a pump and concealer to get this make up to last.  Even though I love Studio Fix Powder Foundation and the Longwear Concealer and will re-purchaise I won’t re-purchaise Studio Fix Fluid because If I don’t have the two products just mentioned in hand I can’t get the foundation to work. But I will continue to use the combination till I use them all up because it looks truly amazing.     

So my search for the perfect foundation continues it’s such a shame I was so close to finding it. Please do let me know if there is any foundations you recommended me to try.  Also feel free to share your opinions on today’s post with me.

Sugarpill CRAZY!

Today’s review is on three Sugarpill palettes, Heart Breaker, Sweet Heart and Burning Heart. I chose these palette’s because they are drop dead gorgeous and totally my style, not to mention the intense pigment these eye shadows have to offer. Each palette has four pans containing 4g of product and a good sized mirror inside the compact. The palette is made from a heavy-duty cardboard with a matte black finish and it stays closed with a magnet on the edge, keeping it safe and secure. The eye shadows create very little fallout so the palette stays pretty clean. I purchased my palettes from Cock TailCosmetics for £24.95 each alternatively you can buy shades individually for £8.95.

All the shadows are bursting with pigment the colour you see in the pan is the colour you will be wearing once applied. In terms of application these eye shadows are great to work with, they apply with ease, easy to blend and they create very little fallout. Using an eye/eye shadow primer is optional but I always tend to use a primer because some of the eye shadows stain my skin and using a good quality primer prevents staining. The eye shadows can also been worn on the lips when combined with a mixing medium, as well as creating liquid liner in combination of the eye shadow and a mixing medium again.  

My overall experience with these eye shadows is out of this word fantastic there is not a thing I can complain about, Sugarpill is now one of my favourite make-up brands If you are looking for super pigmented bright eye shadows you need Sugarpill in your life, trust me you will not be disappointed. Sadly Sugarpill is a little tricky to get your hands on in the UK.  The official Sugarpill website is amazing and extremely pretty just like their range of cosmetics, but the products are nearly always out of stock but I guess that is a good thing as they are obviously well liked. Alternatively there is a few websites online where you can buy Sugarpill Cosmetics.

Glossy Box August 2013 - High Flyers

Emite Make-up Eyelash Curler from Sweden (Full size £19.83) - Developed with professional make-up artists these eyelash curlers certainly look the part and they come with three additional refill pads. My overall favourite item in this month’s box because I’ve been meaning to purchase a new eyelash curler and this one looks pretty decent.  

Tresemme Platinum Strength Concentrated Treatment Shot from USA (Shot size 15ml £1.49) I haven’t used Tresemme hair care products for a long time because they didn’t do anything for my hair. However this is a keratin treatment and I’ve been using keratin a lot lately because it leaves my hair soft and smelling gorgeous.

Oceane Makeup Remover Pen from Brazil (Not yet available in the UK)– I’m always creating new make-up looks so mistakes are forever taking place and this is where this tool comes in handy. Sadly if I do end up liking this tool I won’t be able to re-purchase as it’s not yet available in the UK. But in all honestly I have no problem using cotton buds and make-up remover to tackle any mistakes.

UrbanVeda Daily Radiance Face Wash from India (Sample size 20ml Full Size £7.99) - The UrbanVeda range has been formulated to naturally combat pollution, leaving skin less vulnerable to the environment. This daily radiance face wash contains turmeric, papaya and coriander. I enjoy trying new skincare products and this product  seems promising.

Jelly pong pong 2-in-1 eyeliner and shadow from UK (Full size £10.50) - I’ve had a few products from this brand in my Glossybox and found myself loving them. This is a multi-tasking product that can be used as eyeliner and shadow, so I’m looking forward to trying it out. One thing I've noticed is the shades are never stated on the products which I find to be annoying.

Again I have enjoyed this month’s Glossy box even though there were a few things I wasn’t jumping for joy about but it’s the surprise I look forward to most. As usual I’m looking forward to next month’s Glossy box (September my birthday month)!

Loving Lately

Collection Lipstick in Pink Shock: This lipstick is part of Collections Lasting Colour range and It's the first lipstick I have ever tried by Collection. I was casually browsing Superdrug one day on the hunt to find a bright, opaque, long lasting lipstick and I came across this beauty. I absolutely love this shade because it's a subtle bright pink and what I would call a statement lipstick. I've bought pink lipsticks in the past and hated them because they just look tarty and yucky. It has a smooth application and feels moisturising on the lips. I was surprised at the lasting time because the lipstick was under £4.00 and didn't expect it to last as well as it does. I worse this lipstick out for a meal and I didn't need to re-apply after the meal which was very unexpected. I'm going to try other shades from collection because this one has won me over.

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in shade 101: This lipstick is one of my most worn lipsticks because it's the perfect everyday shade for me. It's a subtle bubblegum pink shade and goes well with any outfit. It's easy to apply and very convenient if I'm in a rush to get ready. The consistency is soft and creamy leaving a lovely matte finish. Because the lipstick is matte is has a decent lasting time but it makes my lips the tiniest bit dry but nothing extreme or I won't be wearing it everyday. Revlon have a lipstick very similar to this one called Pink Pout but it has purple undertones to it. I have already purchased another shade from the Kate Moss collection which I will do a review on very soon.

Lime Crime Lipstick Airborn Unicron: I adore Lime Crime and I adore this lipstick, the packaging is super cute with bright purple packaging and a sparkly holographic unicorn design. The lipstick is an opaque medium violet and definitely a statement shade. It’s super creamy and packed full of pigment that lasts all day. It doesn’t make my lips feel dry nor does it settle in lip lines or bleed. It’s just a beautiful lipstick that I enjoy wearing. Lime Crime have so many amazing shades I have no idea which to choose next.

Avon Haul!

I'm a sucker for Avon and that hasn't changed this month, I blame all the amazing products and offers they have available. I get so excited and impatient to see what juicy things Avon have brought out every time there is a new brochure. Anyway I thought I would share this month’s Avon Haul with you all, so here goes. 

Opal Top Coat: This top coat seals in nail colour, creates bigger impact on darker shades, It’s easy to apply and can be worn alone or over nail polish. It is packed full of irregular iridescent particles giving any shade nail polish that extra sparkle and shine. You can buy this product online or in the brochure for £2.50 and will normally be £6.00. NailwearPro+ Nail Polishes in Starry Night & Celestial Blue: You can purchase these nail polishes in four shades, Cosmic Trip, Starry Night, Celestial Blue and Fiery Sky. These polishes are packed with shimmer and sparkle and Avon claims them to last up to 12 days. I bought two blue shades because I couldn’t tell the difference in the brochure. Now I have received them I can clearly see that Starry Night is more of a purple shade and Celestial blue is the blue shade. All Nailwear Pro+ Nail Polishes are currently £3.00 and will normally be £6.00. Colour Trend Nail Tip Stickers: These nail tip stickers are a leopard print design and are coloured in white, black and pink. They come in a pack of 28 and have instructions with them. They are currently a special introductory price online and in the brochure at £1.50 and will normally be £3.00. 

Luella Bracelet: This is a unstretched silver-plated bracelet with acrylic beads and has a silver detailed heart attached. I think this is a pretty bracelet that suits my taste perfectly. This is currently available in the brochure for £5.00 and will normally be £7.00. Planet Spa Turkish Thermal Bath Petals: These petals come in a set of eight and Avon claims they leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed. These petals were in the sales booklet for £1.50 and would normally be £5.00. However this item is now unavailable unless it comes back into the sales booklets. 

ShowStopping Mascara in Violet Sizzle: You can purchase this mascara in four shades, Cobalt Cabaret, Turquoise Tango, Famously Green and Violet Sizzle. These mascaras look very bright in the brochure but I have a feeling they won’t be as bright in reality, so I’m interested to see how Violet Sizzle turns out. Fingers crossed I like the result because I have a makeup look in mind.  They are currently a special introductory price online and in the brochure at £3.00 and will normally be £4.50. Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliner in SugarPlum: They are one of Avon’s bestselling eyeliners and you can purchase these eyeliners in eight different shades Brown Glow, Black Ice, Sugar Plum, Emerald Glow, Twilight Sparkle, Sparkling Silver, Smokey Diamond and Golden Diamond. They give a pop of colour and have a sparkle of glitter to them, but nothing over dramatic. These eyeliners are currently on offer at 99p each if you buy any other product from the brochure. They will normally be £6.00. Glimmerstick Cosmic Eyeliner in PurpleHaze: You can purchase these eyeliners in six shades Twilight, Silver Eclipse, Midnight Sky, Galactic Green, Blackened Night and Moonlit Brown and they are on offer at £3.50 but will normally be £6.00. Purple Haze is one of two new shades Avon have brought out the other is Starry Night Blue. These eyeliners are in multi-coloured shades that create defined dramatic look. The two new shades are not yet available online or in the brochure, but they will be very soon for a special introductory price of £3.00 and will normally be £6.00.  Kohl Eyeliner in True Black: You can purchase these kohl eyeliners in four shades True Black, Bronze Sheen, Cobalt Blue and Deep Violet. They are formulated with Shea Butter for a smooth application and long wearing colour. On the opposite end of the eyeliner is a smudger to help create your desired look.  These eyeliners are not yet available online or in the brochure, but they will be soon at a special introductory price of £3.50 and will normally be £6.00. 

Perfect Eyebrow Kit in Blonde: You can purchase this kit in two shades Soft Brown and Blonde. I do think Avon should have more shade options available because not everybody has brown or blonde eyebrows. The kit contains smooth wax, brow powder, mini applicator and a decent sized mirror, which makes this a perfect little compact for on the go.  Avon claims this kit to be smudge proof and easy to apply so I’m looking forward to trying this for myself. This product is not yet available to buy online or in the brochures, but it will be very soon for a special introductory price of £5.00 and it will normally be £7.00. Heart Bracelet: This is a stretch bracelet with silver-plated beads and a golden tone heart. It is completely my cup of tea and I find it to be very pretty. This item was in the sales booklet for £2.50 and would normally be £6.00. However this item is now unavailable unless it comes back into the sales booklets.

L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks

 

Hello my lovely readers today I’m doing a quick review on the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks in the shades Fashionist Pink and Cheeky Magenta. First of all the packaging looks and feels more expensive that it actually is, and for the price of £7.99 I think there fantastic quality. There are 10 shades available ranging from nudes, pinks, peaches, purples and reds and the formula is a mix between a balm and a lightweight gel. L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks have a soft velvety texture that glides on the lips leaving them with a subtle tint and a glossy finish. I’ve been wearing these lipsticks a lot this summer because they are easy to wear and are very moisturising. They last on my lips for a good two hours before starting to fade, but the colour is still noticeable, and provides much more coverage that a gloss but not as much as a lipstick.

I’m much more of a bold coloured lipstick wearer, but there are many times I just want quick splash of colour and these lipsticks are perfect for those times. I don’t need to use a lipliner with these lipsticks as they are the kind of lipsticks you can apply without a mirror. All in all I love these lipsticks and I’m so glad I purchased them, now my red lipsticks can have a day off.
